I Am the New Marquis d' Sade

Sigh.
This is the muzzle I ordered for Scooby:

Yeah, so H.A.P.P.Y. about that. :sarcasm drip:

Now, anyone want to explain it to our Scoobers?

Yeah, me either.
For those new to the story - THIS is why he has to be muzzled. He shouldn't have to be. We own a leash.

Scooby looks like a dog we had called Chocolate and I loved that dog but he kept jumping the back fence so we ended up giving him away.

I think it is sad that some dogs need to be muzzled and really think Scooby shouldn't be, just my thought.

I see no reason for your dog to be muzzled. The other dog was not on a leash.

Very unfair in my opinion.

Poor Scooby! I agree, it seems so unfair, as it wasn't his fault. The trouble is, when you take a dog out with a muzzle on, it looks as if it is a really dangerous dog, and this just isn't true in poor old Scooby's case. Life is very unfair sometimes, isn't it Skippy?! Keep smiling dear friend!

Did the owners of the other dog insist on a muzzle or is it some law that you have to? Give him lots of treats and he will think it is a cool thing to wear. fancy it up with some ribbons or colour too I reckon.
Let your lovely daughter loose and he will have the funkiest head gear on the block. All the dogs will be envious

I like the ideas Mynx had.

I like Mynx's idea of decorating the muzzle also. Although if no one from a social services agency of any type has contacted you, I'm wondering about your preemptive strike with the muzzle. I'm sure your thinking is along the lines of "better safe than sorry" but I truly think this all happened because of a set of odd occurrences and not because Scooby has suddenly become prone to random attacks of viciousness.

That is a shame. :(

Scooby looks like my sister-in-law's dog Hershey. Hershey was at the vet with my adult niece, waiting their turn in the reception area. A pit bull attacked Hershey who was seated on the floor between my niece's knees. The pit bull latched onto Hershey's face and would not let go. The vet and two techs had to subdue the dog. And where was the owner? On his cell phone the entire time! Hershey needed a few stitches and antibiotics. The vet charged the other dog owner for Hershey's surgery and follow up care.

If Hershey had provoked the other dog in any way, I would say that dogs were being dogs. In this case, the other owner was woefully irresponsible. THAT dog needs a muzzle.

I would think that Scooby's muzzle edict could have been avoided if the other dog owner accepted responsibility for not having her dog leashed and putting him/her on the ground as she did.

I'd say that sums things up in terms of what I think of the ditz on skates.

Poor pooch. I do like the idea of decorating the muzzle, though. Might help. A little.
