You Leave Them Alone For ONE Second.....

And they go and grow up on you
How did this happen?

We sent Squirrel off today to shop for school clothes and she did great - including the lil' number pictured above. [This is not to be confused with something she is going to wear to class.  She is going to wear this to a....uh....that thing....out on a date perhaps?.....oh, hell if I know.  She liked it.]

So? Um. Wow.  Her Father is still trying to recover.  I am sure at one point smelling salts were utilized.  I don't know.  I haven't opened my eyes for three hours.

But?  We have to let her move on and grow up and she is tickled with this dress.  That is good enough for me - and it does cover all her bits and pieces, so I didn't complain.

Well, not out loud, mind you.  I just smiled and said "Lovely darling." ::choke::

Then I went to my room, laid on my bed, curled myself into the fetal position and I prayed.

I prayed for God.
I prayed for our Country.

Most of all I prayed for a small, self contained fire that burned that dress to ashes.

::crickets::

That isn't going to happen is it?

Shit.

Poor PoolDad...

Haha! I'm sorry SkippyMom, I do feel your pain... you are just so funny :) My son is growing tooo fast... I couldn't imagine having a daughter!!! Oh the worry!

You have done a GREAT job raising her, and that knowledge will help you when you think of her out in that dress :)
If that's not enough... you have TWO DOGS... I mean, who would blame you if it ended up buried in the back yard???????

That dress is adorable! Stop praying for its firey death! She's a doll. Don't worry. She'll be fine.

She's lovely and the dress is lovely. Don't worry too much about her. She's only going to do what most normal, curious and hormonally directed humans do at her age. Just make sure she knows how to protect herself and maintain some dignity. Impress upon her that she's the only one who is with her 24/7 and can make important decisions that may affect the rest of her life.

She'll be fine. Really. She's gorgeous.

The Squirrel is model-lovely. Yes, I know, that doesn't help. She's also smart, talented and has been raised right so let her enjoy looking good in a dress and trust her.

BTW, did you pack a stun gun in her backpack?

word vert: thsions. The Squirrel is a thsions of loveliness.

I'm with traveling Linda, stun gun, mace in a can....but darn ya can't deny she is a stunner. Poor Pooldad indeed and poor Skippers too......it will all be fine. You have done a great job of raising said Squirrel and upon that stunning frame is a smart head too. Be brave Mom and Dad.
XXOO The Olde Broad, who cried for 2 months solid when mine went away to college....stopped just in time for her to come home for Christmas break and then I was really glad when she went back....life's funny like that.
vert word: bilasyp...vell I tell ya that's my bilasyp on the subject of letting go.

It's a very classy looking dress. She makes it look stunning.

Your girl is a beauty.

Sorry. I'm sure that didn't help a bit.

the dress is adorable and she does look like a knock-out in it. i feel your pain. the first time i let amy out of the house in something that closely resembled this (it was to a dance), i wanted to send an armed guard with her. {sigh} they grow up much too quickly.

i'm sure that didn't help, but on another note - i read that wasp spray is a better defense than pepper spray. it sprays farther, takes less accuracy, and would-be attackers aren't expecting wasp spray.
