Do You Ever Wonder Why? Wednesday

I have a couple of questions today, mostly rhetorical, but if you have an answer feel free to leave it in comments.

Why . . . is Jackie Kennedy still so popular in America?  Almost 50 years after Camelot and she is still in the news.  [I don't mind this, but haven't we heard everything about her and her family by now?]

Why . . . will we be expected to pay a fine is we don't purchase health insurance [2012]?  We can't afford the insurance now, how are we going to be able to afford the fine? I am baffled.

Why . .  . do my dogs sleep all day?  It's not like they DO anything, except eat and go on an occasional walk. Big ol' lazy bones.

Why . . . are the Kardashians famous? [I really don't get this. It's like Paris Hilton x 3.] I have to change the channel if I see them on a show.

Why . . . is finger nail polish so much harder to take off then put on? I painted my nails black and silver and I can't get it off. [Reminder to self: Do not do that again. :)]

Why . . . is everyone so crazed by the Missoni fashion line at Target?  Is the stuff really all that great? Store shelves are empty and their website has crashed.  I understand that it is a high end line, but it is still Target. [I love Target, don't get me wrong, but . . . ?]

Why . . . isn't it Friday already? heehee

Hope you all have a great day! See ya' on the flipside.

I have no answers especially about the Kardashians. And the Missoni line. Colored zig zag stripes? Would not be seen in such.

Some good questions there today, Skippy. I bet you're really looking forward to Friday. Hee Hee! Jackie Kennedy is very much in our news over here at the moment, for a series of taped interviews she made after her husband had been assassinated. It seems that she was pretty bitchy - in these comments on the tape anyway!!

I am sorry I didn't get to see the Missoni line in person, but that's probably not a bad thing. I think I'd have bought too many pillows and what nots. They show a red coat with a wild print for the lining. It made me smile, and I know I would have bought that coat just for the smiles.

I don't know what to say about the insurance. It's ridiculously expensive. Are you supposed to choose between health care insurance and a roof over your head or food on your plate? There has to be a better way.

I can't help you with any of these other than the Kardashian question. They are famous because they are shameless self publicists and there seems to be a bottomless appetite in the general public to follow these people.

No sage wisdom for you. I was unaware of the Target line, what with being held captive by my job. WalMart is king in these parts! I find the Kardashians to be annoying. And really, Jackie Kennedy ........ will they let the woman rest in peace alredy! Fridays are my long days, so ......

What's a Kardashian? (I've never watched any of them anywhere and won't, thanks - rhetorical question - don't answer)

What's a Missoni? Same deal. We will be getting some Targets though - is this a good thing? (They are taking over a number of locations belonging to a Canadian discount department store)

Jackie is still popular because JFK was. I think when the baby boomers are gone, Jackie will be too. I listened to a clip of the interviews released. She sounds a lot like Marilyn Monroe. Did women really want to talk like that then?

Don't they have a low-cost minimum health insurance for you to buy? (This is what Canada did - offered a government plan that was affordable)

Dogs sleep because they don't have a thing to worry about.

You didn't happen to get the new shellac polish did you? My sister got that when she had a manicure and had to pay $10 to have it removed again. Requires a special remover - that costs $4/use wholesale.

Don't wish your life away honey! Friday will come soon enough - with excitement!

The Kardashians are idiots that managed to be professional idiots. How can I make money doing nothing?

I saw the ad for Target. I don't get it. Wasn't that fashionable in the 80's I have some pillows from the 80's that look like that. I just haven't replaced them yet.

Good questions, Skippy.
So much wish I was a dog at times, not having to worry about anything, not even about health insurances. A difference I noticed when moving from Sweden to Ireland, the "safety net" was not the same. Luckily I have health insurance via work. Why are those things that you need the most so expensive?

How I wish it was Friday, but we're half way there.
Have a lovely evening!

Such are the things we have to ponder!!

We are soooooo lucky here in the UK to have our NHS (health service) No - we don't have to wait years for appointments and i know very few people wioth bad teeth. Some US folk think we are poor relations - i'm just so glad i can be ill and i'm not worry about "will my insurance cover this"

Some good questions. The only one I'll venture an answer to is the one about Jackie Kennedy. During those Camelot years when JFK was in office, America felt good about itself. We loved the whole first family ... the world loved them ... the world loved us. With the state of the world today, is it any wonder there's somewhat of a nostalgic thirst for a return to those better days?

I'm dying for Friday too! Ugh!

I have to admit I watch Kardashians sometimes. It's a train wreck and sill so when I really need to watch something brainless that's the ticket...

I wish I could sleep all day like a dog. I think I'd be really good at it.

I have an answer to the insurance thing. If it's like here, the fine will be forfeiting your State tax return.

Which here, amounts to no more that $1500. So when faced with providing your family health insurance at $10-$15K a year, the penalty is well worth it. And Oh, BTW... the few that I do know that have opted to not carry insurance, have gone to the doctor and had expended stays in the hospital, and have made arrangements to pay their bills. At far less than the $15K it would have cost for insurance.

Everything else I'm particularly clueless about. Especially like...

WHY... are we out of pudding?

I don't have an answer for any of them.... but know that I want to be reincarnated as a dog- especially in a family like ours where they are treated like princesses!

I was at Target today and actually saw the Missoni line. It is ugly and expensive. One of the little girls sweaters was $30. I heard people talking about buying it up to sell it on ebay.

First, I think Jackie is still popular because there's a part in us that wishes things could have been Camelot- and all we've learned since is that it was ever a fairy tale.

Health insurance fines? Check my latest post about AttackWatch.com.

Dogs sleep all day because they know their part in life and are content with it.

The rest, I couldn't tell you. But Scrappy won't lose sleep over them!

Do you have an answer to the amount of lint cleaned out of a dryer on a regular basis? Our clothes should be threadbare based on what I get in the lint trap.

It is sad that we know who the Kardashians are when really they are not one special in my opinion........

I have not heard of the Missoni line but then maybe it's not in Australia plus I shope at Millers they have clothes that look good on big women like me.....

I have often wondered about nail polish myself I just know it can be so frustrating at times to get it all off.

Health insurance I don't know what it's like there but here it costs a lot and we do not have it we can not afford to have it the government introduced a thing where the older you are when you get it the more it costs but if you can not afford it when you are young how the hell do you think you are going to afford it when you are older........

I agree with everything you have remarked on in your post. Jackie Kennedy is way gone. Who cares?

The only one of those questions I have any idea about is if Obamacare is overturned by the US supreme court, I'll quit paying for that legally-mandated car insurance you have to get. What a huge scam that is!

I live in MA and health insurance is already mandatory here. =\ If we don't have it then they screw with our taxes. I have to get insurance through the state because I can't afford to pay full price...It is income based so I can afford it and they don't touch my taxes. I think it's ridiculous and stupid though.
