You Say Shoe Whore Like It's A Bad Thing

My sister calls  me a Shoe Whore.  I guess I would have to agree with that, but? I blame my Mom.  She did this to me.  hee

My Mom was a small woman but she had feet that she felt were too large to look good in many shoes.  Instead of buying them for herself she would buy them for me.  I had footwear for every occasion. In fact I was known for my shoes in high school and college.  My roommates at GU used to call me "Thom McCann" [old time shoe store for those that don't know.]  I had so many shoes when I left for college that I lined them up under my bed and my roomie's bed.  No kidding.

I had pink hightops with plaid lining, pink leather pumps with gold buckles [they were smoking!] high heels, low heels, boots, sandals, sneakers.  Name a shoe type, make or color and I had it.

I culled my collection once I became a SAHM.  I only needed a few dressy shoes for church, weddings and the like plus some sandals and a pair of tennis shoes.  I was down to a manageable 13-14 [?] pair when I became ill.  From there I downsized farther to a pair of flip flops and a pair of tennis shoes.  Not being so steady on my feet I gave over my collection to Wallene who should be able to wear them for about....oh...3 more weeks before she outgrows them.

When my Mom passed away I  knew I had to wear some kind of funky shoe in her honor.  Everyone [sister, husband, MIL] tried to convince me that Mom would be fine with tennis shoes but I was insistent that I needed a new pair of shoes.

See that kicky pump at the top of the post?  Those are the shoes I bought.  Aren't they great?  I love these shoes and not only are they fun to look at they are incredibly comfortable.  The heel is only an inch high so I can stay balanced on them [the cane helps as does my husband.]

They are Croft and Barrow in the Dawn style with multi as the color.  In a weak moment I actually purchased the same shoe in black.  In my defense they were on sale!  Sale tadpoles.

I know I won't be wearing them all that often but it makes me happy knowing they are in my closet waiting for  a special occasion.

My Mom would be tickled.  The Shoe Whore is lurking. ;)

Funny - I used to be a shoe whore too. But my feet are very wide so I ended up always having to buy "good" shoes. (Here in Canada, wide shoes are not easy to find like they are in Britain and the USA) Fortunately for me, we had a few good shoe factories in the area (gone the way of the dinosaur now). I still have them all although I can't wear them as my feet are bigger but I can't bear to part with them either. My daughter has tiny tiny feet as does my almost daughter in law.

You could have worse addictions. Shoes are okay!

I could call you a shoe whore, but then there is the problem with the pot/kettle thing.

When you find shoes you like, you should buy a pair in every color!

Okay, so we are both whores! Me with my condiments and you with shoes! :D

Yes, your momma would have loved those shoes.

I am the anti-shoe whore. I don't think in my whole life I've had more than 4 pairs of shoes (including gym shoes!) at any one time.

My twin sister? That's another story!

I LOVE those shoes!!!! I can't wear a higher heel anymore- just too uncomfortable, so that height would be perfect for me...
I find I do the whole flip flop sandal thing from about April till Nov.- during the summer it is NOT uncommon to find me in bare feet.. my nail salon loves me in the summer because that means I need regular pedicures to keep my feet looking decent.
I have way more shoes than I need, but shoes are one accessory that no matter what you wear they always seem to fit :)
This post makes me want to go out and buy a new pair! :D

I truly don't get the whole shoe thing. I would much rather be barefoot and only wear shoes when I have to.

This is too cute. Commonality strikes again.
When SM told his Mom he was going to marry me she told him that I would bankrupt him with my shoe buying alone. Amelda Marcos I wasn't but when me moved to San Francisco he told the movers to bring an extra van for my shoes.....ha damn ha. Up until a few years ago I too had shoes for all occasions....but now not so much. Give me a pair of Berkies and I can wear them year round. (socks and that's another mania, in the winter).
I still love shoes and have infected GK with the germ and like Wallene she outgrows them so fast. Big Feet, small child.

With size 11 feet the term cute shoes is an oxymoron. But yours are way fun and I'm sure your mom was smiling over them.

word vert; leser. That girl has so many pairs of shoes, 'leser heart. (ask Vicki to explain that Southernism.)

I adore shoes, all kinds! I've had to take it easy with the heels lately because of a bad knee, but that just gives me an excuse to buy some cute and funky flats!

I think you could wear them anytime anywhere! They are terrific, classy, classic, and would probably even look great with a pair of sweat pants. Think about it! I bet you can get alot of wear from those bad boys!
