Ooops! Sorry About That. . .

Life just got away from me there for a sec'. Alright it escaped for a week, but who's counting? ::grin::

Thank you for all the lovely comments on Wallene's post. Boy-o we were thrilled. She did a fine job.

Unfortunately the day we picked to go back and enjoy the OC Fair it was completely washed out.  We left home around noon only to encounter a huge rain storm on the way there. One that continued to pour as we arrived, found parking [read: found a place where Ozcarz wouldn't get stuck permanently] and in the process of trying to enter her apple pie* we ruined three pair of shoes.  Virginia has some weird bitch soil - it's called Virginia red clay and it is exactly as it sounds.  If you get this on your socks, shoes, carpeting, clothing - any porous material, you cannot get it out.  I have been dealing with it my whole life and it is some nasty stuff.  Anyhoodle - the Fairgrounds were one big swamp of the red clay from Hades and besides losing our footwear we trashed Ozcarz.  He does not look good in red.  No worries.  His carpeting is black so Pooldad managed to work his magic and my car looks [almost] sparkly new.

Speaking of my car - it's starting to border on the ridiculous how much people love him.  I have yet to park in a grocery store lot, get gas or run into the corner market without someone commenting on him. Always to the tune of "How cute!" "Oh, your car just makes me smile!" Then the inevitable "What's the gas mileage on it?"  The one question I can't handle and don't like is when folks as me how much I paid for him.  Is it me or is that a [kind of, sort of. . .] rude question?  I just say "Well we bought him up North [true] and he might cost differently down here [also true]. So you'll just have to research."  If they ask "Was he affordable [to purchase]?" I always answer "yes" but please. . .don't ask me how much I paid.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE that people LOVE Ozcarz. I love the dang car. He makes me happy and I can see why others smile when they see him too.  Ford has a similar color out - but the car and the color aren't quite the same.  Ozcarz is unique. To me. And all of Central Virginia as far as I can tell right now. [I have only seen one other of his make and color since I bought him and that one was in our old home town.]  Plus there is one tooling around Maine right now that I know of [hi Col!]

Oh - and the weirdest thing about Ozcarz?  He attracts butterflies. True. I am not kidding. He is the "Butterfly Whisperer" but instead of enlightening them he is picking them off two and three at a time as we zoom down the back roads at 55 MPH [the posted speed limit just so y'know].  Wallene and I were at the grocer the other day and I drove to the front of the store to pick her up.  Suddenly she stopped in front of my car and grimacing, picked a beautiful Monarch butterfly out of Ozcarz' grill.  We come home and find 8, 9 - heck 10 of them plastered all over the front of him. Not to mention the ones that just sit on him while he is in the drive.  I guess I should be thankful he isn't sparkly red and the hummingbirds like him.

It's early shift week for Steven.  I have a love/hate relationship with early shift. I love that he is home in the daylight [6 pm] but man, oh man Tadpoles 4 am is so early for him.  He has to leave at 4:30 to get to work on time so he has to be in bed earlier than usual.  I am having a difficult time getting him into bed at 8:30 ish, but once there he falls asleep almost instantly.  I hate the fact that he is so tired, and I really hate the mornings when I can't manage to get out of bed to kiss him goodbye.  'Tis what it 'tis I suppose.  Next week is late shift and he doesn't have to leave until 8:30. YAY!

So much more to tell, but my body is telling me it's time to step off.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and all is well with you and yours. Miss you bunches!

See ya' on the flipside xo Janine

*Wallene came in 4th place in the pie contest.  For her second pie ever made we were duly impressed, but the whole contest is another story.

1. Virginia red clay- I imagine just like Georgia clay, which I have seen,

2. Some Mexikid at my job years ago asked me what I made and I said, "none of yer business." An hour or so later he comes back and said, "I make 7.25 an hour and I'm PROUD OF IT!!" I said "Whoopty doopty dooo."

3. We aren't getting ANY monarchs around here. We're among the ones everyone was warning about killing all the milkweeds. So I guess Oscarz must look like a giant milkweed to a butterfly.

4. all the usual;)

Congratulations to Wallene! She is on her way to being a baking genius just like her mom!

We have red clay too. Really nice when we get a huge dust storm. You can see it from the air.

Monarchs come through here in October right around Whitney's birthday. We are on the migration route to Mexico.

Go girly go! :) I am very open in discussing financial stuff, but I would NEVER ask someone who much they paid for something (unless I knew them REALLY well) I might ask the affordable question, but not directly what was paid. Rude.

Enjoy your weekend with Pool Dad!

Alabama is famous for its red clay. One woman watched her husband and sons ruin clothes with Alabama red clay by playing sports. She now has a line of shirts--Alabama Dirt Shirts. I love them. Our little coffee shop carries them. She has them in mall stores in larger towns. Linda in Alabama

All I can think of is having a slice of that pie! Mrs. Spadoman bakes a lot these days, (She's trying to provide fresh snacks for the Grandchildren so they won't have wrappers strewn about the house from store-bought junk), but not too many pies, and any kind of pie is my favorite. (Having the taste for banana cream these days)
Your little car gets attention??!! So does my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 in industrial yellow. It is an old construction truck from some fleet purchase. )I'll do a story on it with photos, you'll see what I mean)
We are all decided that we will paint it to resemble the Beatle's Yellow Submarine.
I feel like you do when folks want to know how much I paid for something. I tell them, "It's none of anyone's business but my own!"
Take care and be well my Skippy friend.

Peace

At some of the car shows we go to, we occasionally see a small car with "eyelashes" over the headlights. Takes cute up to a whole new level. I don't know where these people buy the lashes, but they look like something I think you'd like.

Ugh. Red clay. I know it well. Used to be a major pain in the behind to try to keep our sports-playing boys' white tube socks (all the rage in the '70s) white. Not to mention the white baseball and football pants.

You take care, kiddo. I'd better get off the computer and start doing some baking. We're going to a dinner party tonight, and my gal pal asked me to bring dessert.

Happy weekend! 12:34

Yeah, asking people how much they spend on stuff is a little personal. I get where you're coming from.
