Truth is Thursday . . .

Truth is . . . we picked up Squirrel last night and she is home for a whole month. Ahhh, life is good.

Truth is . . . yes, that does say "we" - I made the road trip to Harrisonburg to go get her.  She didn't know I was coming and she was thrilled that we were all there - I thought she would cry. [I am going to pay for that trip, but it was sooo worth it. :D]

Truth is . . . we stopped for a special treat on the way home - Cracker Barrel - and to be honest?  We give up.  The service and the food, no matter the location, has gone downhill so much in the past 5 years it isn't worth a $40 tab [+tip] for lukewarm, reheated food and awful customer service.  I am kind of glad we don't eat out anymore. I'd rather cook.

Truth is . . . I don't know how Kathy does it - sleeping with 3 dachshunds every night.  I wouldn't get a minute of sleep with three after just sleeping with one last night!  Bless you Kathy - I am kicking mine out tonight. heehee [note: they are wicked bed hogs for being all of 10-12 lbs.  Pooldad takes up less space than Spot.]

Truth is . . . the Christmas card onslaught has begun! Yipppeee.  Remember I was lamenting not having received one?  We had 10 in the mail on Tuesday. So cool.

Truth is . . . no matter what I type today - the only real news today - THE BEST NEWS - is...

Our Troops are coming home today!

Woohoo

Such great news.

Hope y'all have a great Thursday.  There is so much to be thankful for, isn't there?

Happy Thursday! & Welcome home to the troops coming home!

Yes, as you say, wonderful news that your troops are coming home. Now let's get them all out of Afghanistan. So pleased that you were able to make the trip. I can imagine how pleased Squirrel must have been to see you! And she's home for a whole month. YAY!!! Sorry you were disappointed with the Cracker Barrel experience. Such a shame. Hope you won't suffer too much after your journey dear friend. Hugs to you.

Sounds like a restaurant or two that I used to love here. They make a success, then to cut costs or whatever - start loosing customers because they are trying to save money. Use the same products, service and stuff... restaurants..... Bec. people do not come back - after bad service and food.....

So glad you got to go pick up Squirrel.

But the troop thing? I'd be happier about it if I didn't think they will just be sent to Afganistan instead.

So glad you were able to make the trip and Squirrel is home. Whitney got home yesterday and immediately crashed on the couch watching movies.

Congrats on having all your chicks back in the nest again. No better feeling than that.

We don't have a dog sharing our bed, but we do have two cats. One likes to sleep on my chest ... my neck and face ... my belly ... my legs. Wherever. As long as she's ON ME. With lots of licking and purring, too, I might add. (We do get "some" sleep ...)

I miss cracker barrel. Or maybe I don't, bad service pisses me off.

OMG, if I was your daughter and you came to pick me up, I'd definitely cry!

I know that is a lot for you, and you'll have to rest so much, but so glad you were up to the trip.

I've only been to a Cracker Barrel once and the food tasted like ass and I think it took 15 minutes to get a cup of coffee - in a damn diner!

Your food is way better too Skip!

We actually found a Cracker Barrel here that has good hot food and wonderful service but it's so crowded every day and night that you wouldn't really want to deal with it - at least I don't. It's nearly impossible to even find a parking space. Also found a Denny's here that has great food and service, which is pretty cool because hubbs and I met when we were both working graveyard shift at a Denny's in MI. Most in MI are closed now. But, both Cracker Barrel and Denny's are so dang expensive (overpriced, really.) I agree - eating at home is usually much better.

THE TROOPS CAME HOME YESTERDAY?!? I did not know this. I avoid news watching most days because of the little man. Last time I had it on around dinner time they did an update on the woman in CA who was mauled by that chimp a few years back and little man heard them say the words "the chimp ate her face" and became very, understandably, upset. He loves Curious George and it just wasn't cool at all so I keep it off most of the time, with the exception of watching the weather. So happy to hear they're returning in time for Christmas with their families!! That is truly wonderful news.

Happy Weekend!!

So happy for your daughter being home for a whole month! It is a double blessing when it means Christmas family together. I don't have the dogs in bed (there wouldn't be room for me, as each dog is 125 lbs) but the cats wait until I am asleep and then sloowwly creep up on me. It is funny if I catch them at it.

Great news about the iraqi war troops. They should all be home by Dec. 31st, hope they exceed their schedule to get them all back for Christmas. (Happy happy dance)

Take care

Sorry that I am late commenting on this...
Truth is there is nothing more special than having your family together for the holidays....
Sending love and hugs to all of you!!

I love getting Christmas cards too. I didn't send any this year though. One less thing. But I will next year, I think.

We went to the Cracker Barrel in Flagstaff, AZ. It was actually quite delicious and the service was wonderful. Maybe you should go to that one... I had fried catfish. Yum.

I prefer cooking too though. Less fat and it just feels healthier in the body. You never know what restaurants are putting in their food. You just have to trust. Scary.

I found that a lot of the lunch items that I loved from Cracker Barrel taste like it was reheated frozen food.

Your comment about Cracker Barrel caught my attention. We don't have any Cracker Barrels in this neck of the woods, however, for the last few weeks, Cracker Barrel ads have been running on our local tv stations, What gives?
