And I Thought I Had A Lot of Shoes

Yeah, right.

Seems I can now be officially crowned "The Sweater Queen of the United States".  [I was going to say North America but I know my Canadian Tadpoles have me all beat there.]

I will wear my sash with [ahem] pride but, I haven't counted them.  In actuality I am afraid to count them, but I am guessing I have enough sweaters to last until now and the new year.

There's something not right about that.

I am not complaining - it is just that I have a tendency to hold onto my clothes forever.  Unless something is ripped or stained then it becomes a keeper.  I must be very, very kind to my sweaters or not eat while wearing them because I have what seems to be a gross of them in my armoire, closet and drawers. [Next stop - the linen closet.  No. I am not kidding.]

I think the problem is because sweaters are too forgiving. They fit no matter what.  When I can gain weight they'll grow with me.  Now that I have lost weight they bulk me up to hide it and still look okay.  They aren't like jeans, dresses or shorts that have to be switched out when you grow/shrink. Sweaters have accommodated any and all fluctuations in my body for the past...oh.....20 years?  [Yes, I do actually still have sweaters from college and my first marriage.]

Here's another thing - sweaters don't really go out of style if you go the classic route, which I tend to do.  [I didn't say classy - puhleese - just classic - think boring.] I don't own any of those fun, holiday, jingly sweaters - I think the closest I have come to cutesy in a sweater is the one with snowflakes - so it appears my sweaters are lasting the test of time and fashion. [Notice I don't have any from the eighties tho'. Too bad.  They would go great with Sandra's hair. heehee]

Besides the lack of storage space ["Sorry honey I need that drawer for my sweaters.  Your socks are going to have to be kept in the bathroom cabinet. k'thanks."] I don't want to get rid of any of them.  They were either gifts, bought for a special occasion or are attached to a fond memory.

So what's a girl to do?  I was thinking of taking a nod from an awesome blogger "30 dresses in 30 days" [so cute!] and doing my own "30 sweaters in 30 days", but I am too dang lazy for that.

Besides, I like you guys too much to bore you with my lack of fashion sense.

I have just lately started dumping sweaters for the most frivolous of reasons - just to justify parting with them. I also buy classics. However, while I know there are still some items from over 30 years ago, I can't even hope to fit into them ever again. I must have been very lean because the waists are even too small for my tiny daughter and have been all along.

Oh you are a mess. The sweater queen eh? Love it. I used to be the "lady of many sizes" and had clothes in at least 4 sizes for the just in case I actually lost weight or on the flip side...after the holidays sizes. But now.....I just have one size in one closet instead of the whole world in every closet in the whole house...just another blessing of having the grands and Shel come to live here. No more places to "store things". tee hee. The only sweaters I tend to hold onto are the cardigan style. One can always just throw a sweater on an dash out. Well it sounds good. XOXO The Olde Bagg

I had posted a comment about a 20 year-old sweater I own, and then deleted it because it made me sound like a nut case. The good news is it still gets worn, and nothing else in my closet is that old....

Have a ton of cardigans. I think it's an addiction.

Am I abnormal SkippyMom?! Would you believe that I don't own a single sweater!! I've got a couple of zip-up warm hoodies, but that's it I'm afraid. I feel that I'm missing out on something now!!!

Sweaters are something I dont have a lot of. My "sweaters" are mens tshirts. They hide rolls well lol!

Skippy, Skippy, Skippy...you can wear at least 3 on Thanksgiving to keep warm at the parade. Wow. That's a lot of sweaters. I have hardly any clothes because of weight gain, weight loss and I can't stand saving things that don't fit. Now I'm scrambling to buy cheap warm stuff but because of my height I need Tall/Plus Size. Not easy. Woe is me?? ha,ha.

I have the same problem when it comes to clothes.....I cling to some for emotional reasons, some coz I just dont want to give them away, and some for the day I'll get back in shape... :)

There is nothing wrong with Fair Isle snowflakes. They're very seasonal. Also, there is nothing wrong with a sweater a day to keep the chill away.

you know you are hoarding sweaters when you have something that was in style- went out of style and is BACK in style! Enough said! ;)

I actually had a sweater that my Dad bought me that I loved! It was so 70's - had these bright horizontal stripes.

I wore that sweater for my class picture THREE YEARS in a row! It was as if the sweater grew with me - from 3rd to 6th grade!

I am like that too with clothes, I even have a hard time getting rid of them if the DO get stained!

Maybe I am crazy, but I wouldn't be bored at all. I'd love to see your 30 days of Sweaters!

I love sweaters... on other people. I think I'll wear one, so I'll buy it - and it hangs in my closet. I get too hot at work to wear one, and I don't like the feel of all those layers (I have enough layers of my own; don't need to increase it with clothing!). I have a Christmas sweater - green - very bright green. I wear it 2-3 times a year in December. I also have 2-3 sweatshirts (work appropriate) that I wear 2-3 times a year. That's it.

Pooldad will understand. And besides, I just cleaned out Health-hater's (extra) t-shirt drawer to make room for my growing collection of booty covers (aka, pants).

I too have ancient sweaters. My poor winnie the pooh sweatshirt that was oh so stylish when I worked at the kids school a decade ago is badly frayed. It's my grunge work shirt now, but I refuse to toss it... yet.

Have Squirrel do a fashion show of each of your sweaters then do a video of them - totally NOT boring.

ps. the word verification is "tacri" which is just a leeetle too close to "tacky"
