When Lightening Strikes

The bus stop does not become a viable option.

We had a wicked thunder storm this morning, right around the time that Wallene had to walk to the bus stop to catch a ride to school.

I had a few problems with this because - 1. The bus stop is three blocks away.  2. We only have one car and Pooldad had it at work so I couldn't drive her. 3. This was a horrendous storm with a lot of lightening and torrential rain. 4. We live in a tree filled neighborhood and her bus stop is right beside a huge electrical box [think metal], both conductors for lightening.

Not to mention an umbrella is not an option. Metal tip anyone?

So, like any good mother, I let made her stay home. :)

Bonus!  YAY! Three day weekend!

Except - I had to call the school and give them an excuse for her absence.  After the Super Bowl debacle - I just  decided to tell them she was "under the weather."

That's not a lie, right? heehee

Have a good one Tadpoles.  See ya' on the flipside.

Brilliant Skippy!! Under the weather - well, it was true, wasn't it?! LOL! Seriously, that storm sounded pretty bad, and I think you definitely did the right thing. I might take a photo of the fascinator and e-mail it to you tomorrow. Just because it's you!!! x

Sounds fair to me. Definitely too dangerous to be out in weather like that

You're learning! Good for you! It's been grey here - rain over night I think but just not a pleasant day - but no thunder and lightning.

I just gave my girls a long weekend so we could visit & celebrate my mum's 80th Birthday, I love doing that but HATE ringing the school... hope you had a great day ;)
PS found you via Lindas Oz fest comment & hope your lips are OK, my grandma's used to come up like that if she had pineapple, even the juice in a desert.

Good for you. That was the only wise decision based on the dangerous weather.

I would have done the exact same thing. They have delayed openings for snowstorms. They should have them for thunderstorms because they usually pass over fairly quickly. But that would require common sense wouldn't it? Stupid school rules.

Sounds like the same storm system we had Sunday night. I can vouch for its wickedness.

I love the excuse and may use it myself. It's right up there with, there's something wrong with my eyes and I can't see coming in today!

No that isn't a lie. Not your fault she had no safe way to get to school.
