Questions, questions, questions

Okay, I have 3.

First, can anyone explain how in the span of a mere 3 hours, while I was napping, I went from 83 followers to 121 followers?  Tadpoles, you guys know me - I don't really pay attention to numbers or followers or blog hits - I don't bribe people to follow me or come around - and it's not that I don't love you all, but I write this blog for our family and to keep in touch with you guys.

So a jump like that has me scratching my head.  Was there some kind of tour bus that stopped by here yesterday I don't know about? Some school field trip that I didn't get the memo to?

I wouldn't have even noticed that it passed 100, but Pooldad has been teasing me that I would hit 100 before June.  I just shook my head. Nuh-uh, wasn't happening.  I have no idea where 38 new Tadpoles came from in such a short period of time.  Thrilled, of course, but just a little perplexed. [And no, I am not a "blog of note" thank goodness.]  Anyway - welcome to everyone and thanks for hanging out in the pond with us.

Second, what is it with portion size?  Here's my problem.  Pooldad bought 72 oz of chicken quarters the other day [legs/thighs]. Once we cut them up we had 8 pieces weighing in a 9 oz. each.  It looked like I was frying ostrich parts - they were huge.  A healthy serving of protein is 6 oz. so if the family was to eat their average of two pieces they would be eating the equivalent 3 servings each!  We were all pretty much full after one monster piece, but if you normally eat 2 pieces, as most us do [I mean, it IS fried chicken], is it any wonder weight gain is a problem in this country?  Where are these mutant chickens coming from and why do they have to breed them so large? Really makes me wish we could raise our own.

Finally, let's talk about perplexing.  As in, Chris Brown does not make sense to me.  If you don't know who he is - he is a 21 year old singer who was arrested for beating his girlfriend, Rhianna, a few years back. And when I say he beat her, he really beat her. Restraining order type beating.  Well, he was on "Good Morning America" yesterday and he didn't like the interviewer's questions regarding his ex-girlfriend. He kept insisting he was just there to promote his new album.  Okay, fair - I can respect that and he wasn't rude to the host and he did perform.  It was when the show was over and he went into his dressing room that he let his true colors show. He picked up a chair and broke out a plate glass window, showering the sidewalk and pedestrians below with broken glass.  Class act, eh?  What I want to know is what do people see in him?  Why is this type of mentality accepted and even applauded?  He keeps getting record deals and tours and people are buying his albums.  It is just like Charlie Sheen - who got away with beating and threatening his wife, but kept his [$2 million per episode] job until he went way over the edge.  I think someone needs to step up and get the young man some help because obviously the court ordered anger management classes didn't take.

How's that for being all over the place this morning?  Just some things that were on my mind and I thought you guys might want to share your thoughts.

Happy Hump day gang. Let's make it the best one we can. :)

WOW! 121!

so the idiots that are idolized for what they do (entertain) have deep seated issues long before they become popular.

undo idolization will eventually make even the most rational human have a few mental issues...

if a person is unbalanced before they get in the limelight, it will only get worse when they become huge...

nearly 7 billion persons, there are bound to be more than a few idiots...

i just hope you don't go over the edge miss popular! ::hehe::

Our society is getting sicker Skippy. We idolize people like Charlie Sheen. If he gets back on that show I will ban it. And i loved that show. It's not right to let violet, drug/alcohol abusers continue to succeed at such high levels. OJ got away with murder after repeatedly beating Nicole, Charlie, Chris, these reality shows show violence all the time and our society tunes in regularly to watch this crap. I'm so sick of it. If you or I got arrested for domestic violence/abuse, we'd be hung and crucified. OK, I'm done ranting. Congrats to you for the followers. It's because you're so awesome. People like what you have to say. I know I do. Hugs and love, sweetie!!

Wow for the jump in stats! Maybe someone out there is promoting you.

I don't understand how people obsess about any celebrities never mind the ones that are also idiots. These so-called "men" are just losers - not winners as Sheen announces. My respect for the general public goes down every year when they believe all the hype and vote with their dollars.

I think you must have got turkey bits instead of chicken! haha Our chickens aren't mutants here so I don't have a clue what's going on in your neck of the woods.

I linked to you last night. Some might be from me. Other than that, rumor of your sparkling and gritty charm has escaped your pond and has infected a few others.

Even growing your own chickens can result in very large birds. Our heritage birds get to 12 lbs for butchering size.

As for your last one, I pay no attention to it, neither do my boys. We only watch netflix, and I read local news online.

wow, well done you and there was me excited at having 63! I love reading your blog so I expect others do to :)

Chris Brown is a total eejit and should have just been put in jail. Violence should not be tolerated at all.

we are a violent species. and when people think their lives are boring (as so many obviously do) then they look to violence for excitement. life in this country is too easy. if we all had to struggle just a little I bet no one would pay those jackasses a bit of attention.

your tadpole explosion was long overdue.

You are so popular.

Yeah, Chris Brown, ummm, he just needs to spend time at home for a while. I swear Hollywood ruins EVERYONE!

Congratulations on all those new followers Skippy. Amazing - as you say, funny how they all turned up at once!!! Mind you, it's only because you and your Blog are so AWESOME!! I'm with you with this celebrity thing. They shouldn't get on any more shows, but for some reason they seem to get away with it. It's the same in this country with our highly paid footballers. They treat women like dirt and seem to think that it's okay to do that. :(

hey, you have more tadpoles because the reading public found something good to read! Congrats! But if ya really don't want them, you can always send them over to These American Servers, where I feel like I've got tumbleweeds rolling through my station we're so slow. Cheers!

Your blog is interesting to read...that's why I started to follow you. =)

What I have to say about this Chris Brown guy is that at least he didn't flip out on the interviewer and try to hit him with the chair...which means that his anger management classes did pay off. =P

I think they give the animals too many chemicals and growth drugs...=P

Yay for new followers...just wanted to stop by and say hi...the only good thing about how crazy things have been is that the outside world has been shut out of my realm of consciousness. Hope you are well..hugs

O_O How did that happen? That is odd yet awesome. Yay Skippy!

Also I don't see why we have such huge portions either or why we even give a crap about bad celebrities or menial celebrity things like hair and crap.

It's a comment on how interesting your blog is when your following increases. And Sheen is a dick.

wow - and congrats - on the stats jump! i'm still trying to get to 50! lol!!!

i'm with the rest on the "idolization" crap. these people who think they can get away with so much just expect that everything they say and do will turn to gold. i'm sure i'm going to ramble, but charlie sheen et all just grates on my nerves. so many people think the things they see on television are OK because their "idols" are doing it and getting by with it. time to do more than slap their hands.
